TOURISM AND ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION
From
our creation as a tourism company in 1.997, at Aventura Marina
we have enjoyed working close to nature and we have learned
a great deal through our observations of the dolphins, killer
whales and whales of the Strait of Gibraltar, under the attentive
gaze of the storks, flamingos and fish eagles that inhabit
the nature reserves of the Bay of Cadiz, Bárbate and
Tarifa ... as well as while diving close to the coral reefs
and old galleons that adorn the sea floor of the Cadiz littoral,
always in the company of our customers who are eager to see,
to learn and to enjoy the beautiful natural landscape.
We
are conscious of the beauty and fragility of the ecosystems
of our coasts. This is why we strive to conduct our tours
in an ecologically friendly manner. Year after year we increase
our efforts to improve and to protect this fragile ecosystem.
To that end and in an effort to provide our customers with
a venue for ecotourism, with the start of this season we have
incorporated environmental education into all of our trips
and we will provide guides that will explain the unique ecosystems
that exist in the region surrounding the Straight.
We
actively encourage tourism that is both sustainable and respectful
of the natural environment. We are also actively involved
in researching ways that we can provide greater protections
to the natural environment and that will help to mitigate
the impact that mankind has on the marine life and littoral
region. One of the innovations has been the installation of
a protective housing around the propeller of our ship “Mitch”
that will help us to avoid inadvertently harming any marine
life. Currently, we are the only company in the region that
is using such a device on their whale watching boats although
we are hopeful that in the not too distant future the other
tourist ships will have this simple device installed.
Our
customers come from all around the world and there is no age
limit. They are people looking for a different way of spending
their holidays in harmony with nature and learning from it:
couples ready for some rest, naturalists, tourists on holiday
or students with their tutors. They have in common the enthusiasm
for watching, learning and enjoying the beauty of our littoral.
