The
fin whale is light grey to brownish-black on its back
and sides. The underside of its body, flippers, and
fluke are white. The fin whale has a prominent, slightly
falcate (curved) dorsal fin located far back on its
body. Its flippers are small and tapered. Fin whales
feed on shrimps and other small creatures. The fin
whale is the fastest cetacean, it can swim up to 37
km/hr.
Fin
whales can reach lengths of 15-18 meters. Adult fin
whale’s weight: 30-80 tons. |
