RESERVE OF THE STRAIT
The
Natural Park is a well-known skin diving paradise. Departures are
from Tarifa, the wildest zone of the Strait, where the Mediterranean
Sea joins the Atlantic Ocean. It is a special place, famous for
the richness and diversity of the flora and fauna and for the water
clarity and visibility. A paradisiacal place that must be seen as
well as protected and respected by everyone. It is the point where
the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean join and because of
the marine currents, temperature, etc. it is a perfect place for
skin-diving and having unforgettable experiences. Tortoises, moonfish,
red snappers and invertebrates (nudibranchia, starfish, sponges,
etc.) have been found. There are several wrecks with year round
inhabitants like conger and moray eels. We can enjoy splendid fauna
and flora. We can see among others, the wreck of "San Andrés",
whose destroyed steam wheel is a constant reminder of its presence.
The remainders of the wreck are localized at depths between 24 and
35 meters.
