The
Atlantic bottlenose dolphins are small cetaceans that
have a long, beaklike snout, sickle-shaped dorsal
fin, and sharp teeth. They are Odontoceti (toothed
whales) and have one blowhole. They are a blue-grey
in color with the belly being lighter shades than
the back. Adult males can be up to 4 meters long while
new-born males are approximately 1 meter in length.
They are seen commonly in marine parks, nature programmes
and in films. These dolphins live in small groups
called pods and feed on fish.
Adult dolphin’s weight: 150-650 kg.
